Candy Corn!

While driving some where last night I handed
a candy pumpkin to one of the cute girls at the group home
(where I work). I then asked her if a pumpkin is a fruit or a vegetable?
She looked at me perplexed and said
"It's a candy!"

It's the little things...

*The 1.50 items at Michael's were on clearance!
My little sister and I spent over an hour going
through everything and finding sweet finds!!
She got her Christmas neighbor gifts. I got the 1
cent ring above. I LOVE a good deal!

*Today at Walmart I asked if I could get the die-ing plants
marked down. I was told "no they we're just throwing them away!"
What the heck!!

*I hate to drive by the temple w/ it's gates locked and no
people in sight!

*The 97 cent nail polish at Target is cheap. It's a no go!

*I love this fallish weather.

Happy Fall!!

Write!

Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

Usher

*Today I woke up at 6 AM! It was surprisingly DARK!
*I saw the sky turn pink around the temple. BEAUTIFUL!
*It was cold before the sun came up.
*I was able to spend 7 hours on the temple grounds.
*First I ushered in the baptistery! LOVELY!
*I saw ALL walks of life.
*I saw eyes glow w/ love for the temple.
*I admire WHOLE families who came to the temple so EARLY!
*I got to see the brides room. The brides room is not on the
public tour because there is no way to get
so many people in and out smoothly! So each day
it sits clean and pure and perfectly sparkling. Waiting!
Kind of like a new bride waiting for her day!
*Mid day I went out side to greet people in the plaza in
front of the temple.
*It was fun to see people from all walks of life. All colors
and all manner of dress.
*I took millions of pictures for people!
*Some people have SUPER nice cameras!
So nice I thought about what would happen if I dropped one!
(OOOooo not good!)
*Kids loved the fountain!
*One kid put his WHOLE head under water! His parent weren't fans!
*It is amazing how people who have never met, and
have no training or preparations
can pull off such a HUGE task DAILY and w/ very few hiccups!
*In my early morning meeting it was said they have had 340,00 people visit
the temple. Some days 6,000 visit! Amazing!
*I got a killer sunburn while taking "millions" of pictures!
*I had to share my genealogy and life status far to many times to
people who kinda know me. Sighhh!!
*A german reporter had a guided VIP speaking tour. She asked LOTS of
tough questions. One she asked was if we wore clothing in the font.
I am sure glad we do!!

What a blessing!

"The temple is the house of the Lord.
The basis for every
temple ordinance and covenant…
is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Every activity,
every lesson, all we do in the Church,
point to the Lord and His holy house."
—Russell M. Nelson

Last Night

A co-worker prompted me to come up w/ a craft
for the group home ladies I work w/.
Cheap and quick is the best route!
Toilet paper, a stick and some tissue paper and
we were done. They look so cute lined up on the
TV cabinet! Andddd when pumpkin time is over...they are
back to their useful self w/ little waste and no storage!

*What did we do before Google?
*Sadly peach season is over!
*Garden tomatoes no more! Sniff Sniff!
*Yesterday I had a tooth ach repaired! Two
shots later I am good as new!
*I am not a fan of silver fillings!
*Once while teaching preschool a child asked
my why I had bugs in my teeth.
They were my silver feelings!

Happy Fall!

How to make a Kitchen:

My mom would like to re-make her kitchen!
Her Kitchen is out of date!
Kinda like day old bread!

Day old Honey Oak Bread!

She'd like a little more
vintage/farmhouse!

A hand full of architectual detail.
Corbels? Yes Please!
7 or 8!

A dash of darling lighting!!

Sprinkle in a little beadboard!

A subway tile here or there!

One of these:

and these:

Out pops a perfectly cottagey kitchen!!

Look Up!

My friend Erin gave me a PRIVATE home tour
the other day and some produce!
I didn't bring my camera! DARN IT!!
(I'll have to go back!) Next time I'll take one of her cute girls home
w/ me! So cute! Along w/ her girls Erin's house is DARLING!
She has some ceilings she is working on though and that got me to thinking!
What are some fun options for ceilings?? Hmmmm!

Wall Paper!

Bead Board!

Stenciled!

Stripes!!

Book Pages!!

Pallets?!

The sky (or the ceiling) is the limit!!

Ten Cents!

This my friend is my favorite
yard sale find this weekend.

*I also got 4 brand new GAP dress pants for a
QUARTER each!

*A few other odds and ends found their way into my life too!
Have you used Dr. Bronner's soap!? You should!

Happy Summer! (Still?)

Today while at the Dr's office w/ a resident.
I heard them call "Heather Robinson" on the over head speaker.
I thought "wait how do they know I am here!"
(I know my name isn't Robinson but usually it is said that way!)
I walked toward the nurse who called my name and so did another girl.
I then turned around an walked away.
There is a girl in my tiny town who has
a name just (kinda) like mine. It was so funny!!
And strangely weird!!

My Morning @ the Temple!

The other day I woke up at the crack of dawn to volunteer
at the temple! It was not "fun" but a GREAT experience!
Here is what I learned and saw!

*I met and saw people from all over the world!
*I watched the reminder to "Lift where you stand!" Put into practice!
Even if you can only lift a little it makes a difference!
*I love to people watch!
*Tiny people hate shoe covers!
*The parking garage is HOT!!
*Mormons know how to dress! I saw so many cute clothes and shoes!
*I saw people from all walks of life.
*I knew a lot of people were coming but I was shocked at the
masses of people. Every few minutes a new bus would unload.
*Water is priceless when I am sweating to death!
*People were polite and kind even when their was a huge bottle neck.
*The teenagers I worked w/ were hard workers, happy and so glad to be there.
There is hope for the future.
*No matter where you are there is someone to talk to and a friend to make!

Happy Summer!
